The short answer
AMPS is cloud-based job and asset management software. It is used by NDT and inspection companies, by asset owners in heavy industry and energy, by shutdown and maintenance teams, and by job-driven trades, mainly in Australia and New Zealand. It is built and run by Skinny Robot LTD in Auckland, New Zealand, and lives at amps.global.
The problem it exists to solve is the one every field business recognises: the work pack is in an inbox, last year’s report is on somebody’s laptop, the timesheet arrives two weeks late, the invoice goes out when someone remembers, and a certificate expires quietly until a client audit finds it.
What it actually contains
Jobs. A job is created with the client, PO number and scope, assigned to a technician with its documentation attached, executed, reported, costed and closed. Marking it ready for invoicing puts it in front of administrative staff in real time, and the invoice is created in Xero.
Assets and equipment. Every asset has a page, a QR code and a complete history of the jobs performed on it, with their reports, photos, timesheets and costs. Assets nest, so a tank farm holds tanks, a wind farm holds turbines and a plant holds vessels and circuits. Google Maps positioning locates them in the field.
Certificates and calibration. Personnel certifications and equipment calibration documents sit on dedicated pages, and a flag system warns one month before any of them, or a scheduled asset inspection, falls due.
Reports. Any Microsoft Word document becomes a template that AMPS fills with job data. An AI writing assistant improves the wording, documents can be queried with AI question-answering, and reports are signed in AMPS and emailed from AMPS.
Timesheets and costs. Time is logged against jobs, exported in batches for whole teams and pushed to payroll, with reimbursable costs recorded on the same timesheet.
Analytics. Every piece of AMPS data is available to Power BI, with per-user access on multi-page reports.
Where the data lives
This is the part that tends to decide the evaluation. Documents, reports and photos saved through AMPS are written to your own Microsoft OneDrive or SharePoint, or your own Google Drive, not to AMPS servers. AMPS creates and maintains a folder structure there, including a report folder for every job, so an existing QA folder structure keeps working unchanged and nothing has to be requested back if you ever stop using AMPS.
Access runs through your own Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace single sign-on, SAML included. If your IT administrator revokes it, AMPS loses access immediately, which is a materially different security position from a vendor holding your files and your credentials.
Signing in
There is no sign-in button on this site, and that is deliberate rather than an oversight. Every AMPS customer runs their own separate instance at its own address, so there is no single door to send people through. Your organisation’s address comes from whoever administers AMPS there.
Once you have it, there is no separate AMPS password. Users sign in with the Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace account they already use, and that administrator issues and revokes access. If you have arrived here looking for a different system that happens to be called AMPS, see the note below.
Other things called AMPS
The acronym is heavily reused. AMP Technologies is a commercial real estate asset management platform and is unrelated to this product. AMP is a large Australian financial services company. Several government, postal and defence systems use AMPS as an internal name, as do companies trading as AMPS Pty Ltd. None of them are connected to the software described here, which is the job and asset management platform at amps.global built by Skinny Robot LTD.
Deciding whether it fits
AMPS suits an organisation whose work is organised as jobs against assets, where technicians hold certifications that expire, where instruments need calibration records, and where reports have to look the way clients already expect. It suits it less well if you need to work offline, if you need a public API or a client portal today, or if you are looking for a full EH&S suite with incident reporting and permit to work.
