## Key facts

- Current edition 2017; structured around impartiality, structural, resource, process and management requirements
- Requires metrological traceability, evaluation of measurement uncertainty, method validation and participation in proficiency testing
- Calibration certificates from a 17025-accredited provider are what make NDT equipment traceable
- Inspection activities are usually accredited under ISO/IEC 17020 instead; some companies hold both

Also known as: ISO 17025, ISO/IEC 17025:2017, laboratory accreditation.

## What it requires

Competent personnel with defined authorities, controlled facilities and equipment, validated or standard methods, handling of test items, technical records that allow a test to be repeated, evaluation of uncertainty, reporting rules, and a management system with internal audits, corrective actions and management review.

## ISO/IEC 17025 and AMPS

NDT companies meet ISO/IEC 17025 mainly through their equipment: calibration certificates from accredited laboratories with due dates. AMPS keeps personnel and equipment certificates on dedicated personnel and equipment pages, and its flag system warns one month before a certificate, calibration document or scheduled inspection falls due, so managers always know what is missing or expiring. AMPS is software and holds no accreditation itself; what it does is keep the records an assessor asks for in one place: personnel and equipment certificates with expiry flags, calibration documents, a report folder per job and a history of every action.
