Inspection and test plan (ITP)

An inspection and test plan (ITP) is a controlled document listing the inspection and test activities for a scope of work in sequence, with the applicable procedure, acceptance criteria, responsible party, record produced and the client's involvement level (hold, witness, review or surveillance).

Published

Also known as: ITP, quality plan, inspection test plan.

Where NDT fits

NDT activities appear as lines in the fabricator’s or asset owner’s ITP: for example 100% VT of all welds, 10% RT of butt welds per ASME VIII UW-52, MPI of fillet welds per AWS D1.1. The inspection company’s reports are the records that close those lines.

ITPs in AMPS

An ITP scope becomes a set of jobs in AMPS, often in a job group, each producing its report from your Word template. The job statuses on the asset page show which lines are complete, in progress or not started.
