> Document control is the set of rules and tools that govern how quality documents (procedures, templates, forms, work packs, standards) are approved, identified, revised, distributed and withdrawn, so that only current, approved versions are used.

## The field problem

The AMPS shutdown case study describes it directly: sending the same work pack to many people, updating it and sending it again. Uncontrolled copies in inboxes are how superseded procedures end up on site.

## Document control in AMPS

Every action taken in AMPS is tracked by its history feature, and each job page holds the latest version of its documents with everyone notified when a document is updated. Report templates are Word documents you control; AMPS generates each report from the current template into the job's report folder, and documents saved through AMPS live in your own OneDrive, SharePoint or Google Drive, not on AMPS servers, so an existing QA folder structure keeps working unchanged and everything stays yours if you ever stop using AMPS.
