## Key facts

- Best known grades: CSWIP 3.0 visual welding inspector, 3.1 welding inspector, 3.2 senior welding inspector
- Also certifies NDT (in cooperation with PCN), plant inspectors and diver inspectors
- Certificates are renewed every 5 years and re-examined every 10 years
- Frequently required by clients for weld inspection on structural and pressure equipment projects

Also known as: CSWIP 3.1, CSWIP 3.2, Certification Scheme for Welding and Inspection Personnel.

## What it covers

CSWIP welding inspector grades assess knowledge of welding processes, imperfections, codes and inspection practice, with practical inspection of weld samples. Senior grades add responsibility for procedures, welder qualifications and NDT interpretation. TWI Certification maintains the register.

## CSWIP in AMPS

Welding inspectors often hold CSWIP alongside NDT method certificates and site inductions. AMPS keeps personnel and equipment certificates on dedicated personnel and equipment pages, and its flag system warns one month before a certificate, calibration document or scheduled inspection falls due, so managers always know what is missing or expiring.
