Asset register

An asset register is the structured list of physical assets (plants, tanks, turbines, vessels, equipment) with their identifiers, location, hierarchy of sub-assets, documents and the history of every inspection and job performed on them.

Published

Also known as: equipment register, plant register, asset hierarchy, sub-assets.

Examples from AMPS case studies

A tank farm as an asset with tanks as sub-assets during a shutdown; a wind farm as an asset with turbines as sub-assets, farm-level documents on the farm page and inspection reports on each turbine; a restaurant chain as the main asset and its gas storage tanks, inspected every two years, as sub-assets.

The asset register in AMPS

In AMPS every asset and job carries a QR code. Scanning it opens the asset page and the history of jobs performed on it, assets can hold sub-assets, and jobs can be grouped, for example per shutdown. Assets can be located with Google Maps through the positioning feature, the flag system notifies the team one month before an inspection is due, and site-wide search finds any asset or document.
