Who each product is for
Floodlight Software describes itself as a complete NDT software platform for inspection service companies, from request to cash: quoting, certification-aware dispatch and scheduling, a drag-and-drop task and form designer, a mobile app with offline sync, a customer portal, analytics and API integrations. It targets oil and gas, water, heavy construction and engineering, with API 510, 570 and 653 workflows.
AMPS targets NDT and inspection companies, asset owners and job-driven businesses in Australia and New Zealand, and keeps your existing tools: Word for reports, Xero for accounting, OneDrive, SharePoint or Google Drive for documents, Power BI for analytics.
Where they overlap
Both handle the job lifecycle from creation to invoicing, track technician certifications, keep asset history and produce method reports on mobile devices. Both cover UT, RT, MT, PT and VT work.
Where they differ
Reports: Floodlight uses its own form designer; AMPS uses your Word documents as templates and adds an AI writing assistant and e-signature.
Field app: Floodlight publishes a native app with offline sync; AMPS is a responsive web app with no offline mode.
Dispatch: Floodlight advertises certification-aware scheduling; in AMPS the supervisor assigns jobs and checks certificates on the personnel page with expiry flags.
Client access: Floodlight has a customer portal; AMPS emails reports from the job and shares files through your own cloud storage, with temporary roles for third parties.
Market: Floodlight is US-based; AMPS is built in Auckland for Australia and New Zealand with Xero integration.
Pricing: AMPS is published; Floodlight is not.
Integrations and accounting
AMPS: Xero, OneDrive and SharePoint, Google Drive, Word, Power BI, Mailgun, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace SSO; MYOB on request for Enterprise. Floodlight: API integrations are advertised; the accounting packages supported are not listed on its public site.
Pricing and trials
AMPS: Starter NZ$60 per user per month (up to 50 users), Business NZ$50 (51 to 100 users), Enterprise on quote, all features included, free trial on request. All AMPS prices are in New Zealand dollars and exclude GST. Floodlight: prices on request, 14-day free trial.
When to choose AMPS
- You run an NDT, inspection or asset-heavy business in Australia or New Zealand and want your accounting to stay in Xero.
- Your reports are Word documents your QA system already controls and you want them generated, not redesigned.
- You want documents to live in your own OneDrive, SharePoint or Google Drive, so leaving AMPS leaves every report and file in place, and revoking single sign-on in your own IT cuts AMPS off instantly.
- You want published per-user pricing with every feature included and no add-ons.
- You want asset history with QR codes and a flag system for certificates, calibrations and due inspections.
When to choose Floodlight Software
You need a native mobile app with offline sync for sites without coverage.
You want certification-aware automated dispatch and a customer portal out of the box.
Your business is in North America or your clients require API 510/570/653-specific workflows built into the tool.
You prefer designing report forms inside the platform over Word templates.
